Hospitalization

When pets are hospitalized for any reason, we understand the stress' felt by both the patient and the owner.  From elective procedures such as spay and neutering, to emergency care and treatment, the staff at Atwood Animal Hospital are prepared to care for your pet.  While in the hospital, patients are evaluated daily by one of our doctors and regularly monitored by our technicians and nursing staff.  Donated blankets and towels are provided for the comfort of all patients.  We do ask that any items from home be properly labeled.  All hospitalized animals are kept in appropriatly sized cages and are brought to our indoor runs several times a day.

Atwood Animal Hospital is not a 24 hour facility; it is with the discretion of the doctors that all hospitalized  patients left unattended overnight are stabile to do so. If 24 hour monitoring and care is needed for a patient, the doctor will discuss appropriate solutions.  On Sundays when the practice is closed, one of our nurses is here at least twice a day to monitor, medicate, and care for all hospitalized patients.  The doctor on call that weekend is readily available to the on call nurse for any questions or concerns.
